Minister Of IT & Telecom Visits Ashreitech And Nastp Silicon, Karachi

[Friday, April 26, 2024] Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, visited AshreiTech and NASTP Silicon in Karachi on Friday 26th April 2024. The Minister’s visit focused on empowering Pakistani youth in the technology sector, with a particular emphasis on digital skills and capacity building.

During her visit, the Minister met with students at the AshreiTech Academy @ NASTP, a program designed to equip young people with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age. The students shared their experiences at the Academy and how their acquired skills have translated into employment opportunities. Dr. M. Shoaib Arif, Project Director NASTP, and Mr. Ghayas Uddin were also present during the visit, providing valuable insights into NASTP and AshreiTech’s mission to bridge the digital skills gap in Pakistan.

After a tour of our state-of-the-art training facility, the discussions revolved around collaborative efforts to upskill the youth and prepare them for the evolving tech landscape. Shaza Fatima Khawaja also interacted with students currently enrolled at the Academy. The Minister and AshreiTech representatives and portfolio companies including Umair Azam CEO Integration Xperts, Salman Khan, COO Rewterz, and Omar Ahmed Khan from Avanza Solutions, explored the creation of consortiums and partnerships between the government, educational institutions, and private companies. Muhammad Zohaib Khan, Chairman of P@SHA (Pakistan Software Houses Association), and Habibullah Khan, Founder Penumbra also joined the conversation, emphasizing the importance of industry collaboration in this endeavor.

This visit highlights the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan’s IT sector. AshreiTech’s dedication to equipping the youth with the necessary digital skills aligns perfectly with this vision.
